The Old Fisherman

Every summer, my family traveled to Gloucester, Massachusetts to visit my Grammy and extended family.  Gloucester is a beautiful, fishing town bursting with history, fishing vessels, fresh seafood and the spray of salt water.  It is a magical place and a little piece of me will always feel at home there.

Threadless is hosting a nautical design challenge and I decided to create an illustration of an old fisherman – inspired by my time in Gloucester and the powerful Gloucester Fishermans’ Memorial that honors the local fisherman who lost their lives at sea.

I’ve been thinking a lot about my Grammy lately so this design means a lot to me.
