Stand Tall and Shine On!
It’s time for some happy thoughts! I just created this design for Threadless’ “Good Vibes” challenge.

Blast off with the Official Junior Space Ranger Club! Become a member and you can enjoy an out-of-this-world collection of imaginary goodies – including a Space Ranger membership card, an official club newsletter, a secret decoder ring, a Space Ranger patch and even a super sonic ray gun! You won’t actually receive any of these things but you can pretend anyway 😉

Our excitement for space exploration and technology during the Space Age period had a huge effect on popular culture and entertainment. From children’s toys to television programming and even cereal boxes – everyone joined in on the fun! This design is inspired by my love of vintage ads and of course…. space! 🙂

As everyone knows, (entirely fictitious) evil robots are planning to take over the world… and the entire universe, in fact. An elite group of rebels (also entirely fictitious) has been assembled to stop the uprising and inevitable apocalypse that would almost certainly destroy our world if it weren’t for the brave efforts of these heroic fighters.
The very least that I can do to help these brave (and entirely fictitious) men and women is to create a totally fabulous tshirt that they can wear to express their solidarity on the battlefield. While it probably won’t help stop the relentless blasts of the evil robots’ evil ray guns, the rebels will at least look awesome when they are fighting. Isn’t that the most important thing, after all?
Here is the version I created for Threadless…https://www.threadless.com/designs/evil-robot-task-force
And this is what I will eventually post in my shop for all to enjoy 🙂 I might end up posting both versions but I always like to let the Threadless version go through the voting process before doing anything with it.
Let’s all do our part to stop the (completely fictitious) Evil Robot apocalypse 🙂
Good Luck Troll dolls were a huge toy fad in the 1960’s and then again in the late 1980’s- 1990’s. Whether you love them or hate them, chances are pretty good that you had at least one of these colorful little toys or knew someone else who did 🙂 I had quite a few myself and I loved playing with their super fun hair.
In 2016, Dreamworks will be releasing an all-new Trolls movie and they are currently sponsoring a Threadless design challenge inspired by the original Good Luck Troll dolls.
I submitted a few designs for the challenge and thought that I would share their trolly sillyness with everyone.
The first design that I created is centered around space and astronauts. While I don’t think they ever released any actual space dolls, I couldn’t resist sticking one in a cute spacesuit. I think that their hair would be awesome in zero gravity 🙂
The next one that I created was inspired by all of the fun 80’s tees that I had when I was growing up. Rainbows, stars and colorful characters ruled my wardrobe in the 80’s 🙂
Finally, I decided to embrace the trolls’ cute side with this sugary pink design:

As a tribute to all of the super awesome and nerdy developers in the world (my hubby included,) I created this silly little design for Threadless. It is a sarcastic play on the classic programmer “excuse” that a defect isn’t a bug.. it’s a “feature” of the software 🙂

It’s a bird… It’s a plane… No! It’s Book Nerd Man!
I finished a couple nerdy book illustrations this week – one for Threadless’ Nerds Rule challenge and the other just for fun (because I’m pretty much a super nerd myself.)
Here is my nerdy orange “Read Me” book man illustration…
And here is the version that I submitted to Threadless…
Book Nerd Man is so super happy.
I posted the orange version to Society6 in case anyone is interested. The blue one will be posted later if it isn’t selected for Threadless… but I’m really hoping it will be 🙂
Nerds Rule! I’m celebrating my inner nerd (and outer nerd) with this new illustration that I created for Threadless’ Nerds Rule challenge. I wanted to create something super cheesy… and I think that I succeeded 🙂

Occasionally I get so excited about the extreme awesomeness of a project that I totally psych myself out and screw it all up. I feel like nothing I do could possibly be good enough so nothing I do ends up being good enough (at least in my very picky eyes.) It’s a self fulfilling prophecy… and it’s extremely annoying. The X-Files design challenge at Threadless is a perfect example of this unfortunate occurrence 🙂
When the challenge was announced, I yelped with excitement. In my eyes, The X-Files is the greatest show in the history of television. It sits atop an untouchable pillar of incredible awesomeness and nothing can ever compare to it. Firefly comes close… but The X-Files will always remain at the very tippy top.
I played around with a million different designs and just ended up with a huge pile of frustration. It was impossible for me to create a worthy tribute to a show that had been elevated to such a high level of awesomeness in my mind. I finally decided that I just needed to step back and have fun with it 🙂
I ended up submitting 4 designs.
The first one was a super simple black and white spaceship design with the iconic phrase “The Truth is Out There.”
I also submitted a revised version of that design with a little more detail:
Next is an homage to the Black Oil 🙂
Finally, I created a logo for the fictional baseball team featured in “The Unnatural” episode:

Despite the fact that nothing turned out the way I had hoped, I ended up having a lot of fun with this challenge. We started rewatching The X-Files on Netflix (thanks Netflix!) and I can’t wait until the premiere of the new X-Files miniseries!!!!!!!!
We were driving through Shenandoah National Park a few weeks ago when a HUGE owl landed on a tree right next to our car. It was the most beautiful and mesmerizing creature I have ever seen. Even though we only saw him for a moment, I will never forget the piercing stare of his dark eyes.
In honor of this amazing owl (which I later identified as a Barred Owl), I decided to create an owl shirt for Threadless’ National Park challenge. It’s obviously a simplified representation of a barred owl but brings back great memories of the gorgeous bird I encountered in Shenandoah National Park.

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am! My Boris Badenov illustration was chosen for print by Threadless as part of their Saturday Morning Cartoon challenge. I was only 1 of 6 designs chosen – super cool!
My love for Boris, the self-proclaimed world’s greatest no-goodnik, has paid off 🙂
They are still in the process of choosing the Grand Prize winner and will be looking at all of the comments, likes, shares and purchases my design receives between now and 8/21/15. If you are a Boris fan (or if you just want to be nice to me), check it out!! https://www.threadless.com/product/6686
And look how fun this is! I’m on the front page of Threadless’ website!
I’m just too excited 🙂 I’m such a dork 🙂

Just had to add a quick update to this post 🙂 My shirt came in the mail and it is awesome. Here I am in all my dorkiness…
